Fear & Greed Index: what it says (and what it doesn't) about the crypto market

Cos'è
L'indice Fear & Greed va da 0 a 100 e riassume in un numero l'umore del mercato crypto: volatilità, volumi, social, dominanza di Bitcoin e tendenze di ricerca.
- 0-24: extreme fear
- 25-44: fear
- 45-55: neutral
- 56-75: greed
- 76-100: extreme greed
How to use it
L'idea classica è "essere avidi quando gli altri hanno paura". Nei momenti di extreme fear prices have often already dropped a lot; in moments of extreme greed the market is euphoric and the risks of a correction increase.
What it is NOT
- It is not a buy signal: fear can last for weeks, and the price can drop further.
- It doesn't apply to individual coins: it describes the market in general, especially Bitcoin.
- It does not predict the future: it captures today's mood.
How to really use it
Like a thermometer: if the index is in extreme greed, maybe reduce the size of new trades; if it is in extreme fear, it's time to calmly study opportunities with clear stop losses.
